Kangaroo Island, situated off the coast of South Australia, is unique in terms of its pristine environment, abundance of native wildlife and spectacular natural attractions, making it the jewel in the crown for the State's tourism and premium, fresh local food and wines.


The Commissioner for Kangaroo Island will focus her work on a number of projects that have been identified as crucial to delivering lasting prosperity and benefits to Kangaroo Island residents.

Some of these projects will lead to improvements in the short term, while others will take longer for the benefits to be fully realised.

Introducing Reece Svetec

Earlier this year, the Commissioner for Kangaroo Island Wendy Campana, identified the need for a Management Plan for Housing on KI, to address the current and future housing needs on the island.

A university under-graduate, Reece Svetec, has been engaged to work on this project, for a period of 12 weeks.   Reece will work with key stakeholders on KI and in Adelaide to prepare a report on affordable housing, with the goal of delivering recommendations on what measures need to be taken to increase/improve housing affordability on the island. Reece has completed his third year of a four year Bachelor of Urban and Regional Planning (Hons.) at the University of South Australia.
